CNC Milling

CNC Turning

Surface FInish

CNC Milling

  • Widely used CNC machine
  • Perform both drilling and cutting
  • Work for both metal and plastic
  • Prototypes using exact material
  • Design that needs tight tolerances
  • Molds, dies and inserts making
  • End use products
  • Max part Size: 500x500x500mm
  • Lead time: 4~5 business days

CNC Turning

  • Material is held in a chuck and rotated
  • Tool is fed to remove the material
  • Computer operated to achieve tight tolerances
  • Prototypes using exact material
  • Design that needs tight tolerances
  • Molds, dies and inserts making
  • End use products
  • Max part Size 150x150x500mm
  • Lead time: 4~5 business days

Surface Finish

Surface Finish Image Remark
As machined (Ra 3.2 µm)
  • Quickest turnaround
  • Parts are left with visible tool marks
  • Potential sharp edges and burrs
Smooth Finish (Ra1.6µm)
  • Tool marks are less evident but still visible
  • Smooth finish start from Ra1.6µm and could go further fine finish upon special request
Brushed (Ra1.2µm)
  • Rough polish which will remove most machining marks
  • Some scratches and machining marks still may remain
  • Not advisable for applications where corrosion resistance is required
Polished (Ra0.8µm)
  • Part polished to reduce surface roughness
  • To attain shiny finish
Powder coated
  • Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder
  • Creates a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint
  • Can produce thicker coatings than conventional liquid coatings
  • Powder coat finishes are available in a large range of colours
Satin finish (Beed blast)
  • Fine glass beads blasted at a high pressure without damaging the surface
  • Creates a uniform surface finish on machined parts
  • It gives a matte finish with light texture
Matte Finish
(Beed blast + Anodized typ2)
  • It increases resistance to corrosion and wear
  • Provides better adhesion for paint primers and glues
  • A variety of different colours can be applied
  • For Type III, a wear resistant finish layer is added on top of the corrosion resistance of Type II
  • Anodizing is also used to prevent galling of threaded components
  • Most commonly applied to protect aluminium alloys
  • Anodizing changes the microscopic surface texture and the crystal structure near the surface
Glossy finish
(Brushed + Anodized typ2)
Hardcoated
(Anodized typ3)
Black Oxide
  • Black oxide imparts a deep, black, lustrous appearance
  • Replicates the surface finish of the part
  • Provides mild corrosion protection
  • Primarily used because of its aesthetic properties
  • No significant dimensional changes to a black oxide part
  • The layer thickness depth approximately one micron
